This simple shirt belonged to the Great Champion Rodeo Rider Jackson Sundown. He is seen wearing it in the small photo above (I wished I had a better one but this is all I have). I have written before about him on this blog. Jackson Sundown is a man who encompasses so many facets of the Western experience. He was on the trail with his uncle Chief Joseph in the fight for freedom against the US army when he was only 11. He was wounded twice in the war. Later in life he won the Rodeo Championship of 1916 at the Pendleton Round Up.
It is a honor to be able to work on a object that belonged to such a important figure in history.
