Since I am once again in between projects I thought I would post some images of two purses I made some time ago. Sorry the photos are not the best they could be. The first bag with the blue background is the first one I made with this original design and concept. While I did find out in a surprising way that a well known designer did a knock off of my beaded horse purses upon entering a couture shop in Santa Fe (It had been previously published in Living West magazine so I guess thats where they saw it) these are originals designed and conceived by myself and are copyright protected.
These are what I consider my mobile photo albums. Many of the horses on them I have either owned, currently own or have ridden. The black with the white hip spots on the yellow background is the mother to my big spotted Appy. She is dear to my heart, and was saved by a $10 bid over her poundage price from the slaughter house. And she payed me back more than I could ever do for her by giving him to me.
So, if any of you are reading this by chance from looking me up from my Cowboys and Indians article, and are interested in a custom purse or other work, please feel free to contact me at angela@medicinecapstudio.com. I have since made several of these purses for others portraying their own horses. Every purse is a one of a kind.

These purses are absolutely stunning. I would be so pissed if I found someone ripped off my idea as you described :(
I'm going to post your link in my blog post today. Truly, the purses are to die for.
Thanks Carol. I was a bit taken back when I contacted the designers company and got a bit of attitude. What I think was the real kicker was that fact that the bag they ripped off had my own horses beaded on it, and this was like somebody stealing your baby"s photos! Not the first time though this has happened to me, so I guess my design work is appealing. Thanks again for your comments.
Isn't there a saying about imitation being the highest form of flattery, or something like that? It doesn't feel right though.
That's a real interesting position. I have had others do work inspired by mine, and that I have been honored by because of their honesty and integrity of how they went about the work. But in a case where your designs are flat out taken, claimed as "their" inspirations and mass produced, then I have a bit of a burr under my saddle over it. But, thats life I suppose?
Absolutely gorgeous purses! How wonderful that you are able to combine your passions and create a piece of art.
